Saku MP Dido Ali Rasso and North Horr's Francis Chachu Ganya Arrested

Two Members of Parliament, Saku MP Dido Ali Raso and North Horr's Francis Chachu Ganya were arrested on Monday over the clashes in Marsabit.

The lawmakers were arrested on Monday morning in connection to the clashes that have so far claimed at least 14 lives in Marsabit County.

Tension has been high in Marsabit County following tribal clashes pitting the Borana and the Gabra communities.

Last week, the two MPs, in the company of Marsabit Governor Muhamud Mohamed, recorded statements with police over the protracted tribal clashes that had, as at October 17, 2018, claimed 10 lives.

The leaders were summoned to the Eastern region police headquarters where they were questioned on suspicion that they were partly involved in fuelling the unrest in the area.

The legislators are being moved to the DCI headquarters in Nairobi for further grilling over the alleged fueling of violence in Marsabit.

The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet earlier last month warned the area leaders and residents against taking part in any activities that would cause more fights in the area, warning them of stern action.
