Julie Gichuru Denies Accusations of Misquoting Richard Quest

Former TV Journalist Julie Gichuru has challenged CNN's Richard Quest over accusations that she misquoted him.

In a tweet replying to Quest calling her out, she wrote, “Correction to my earlier post. Nice pic and sentiment but NOT a QUOTE. Delighted that Richard is having a good visit.”

This contradicted an apology that she had made out to Richard.

Ok, I am fanning out right now @richardquest. Pole sana Richard, I thought it was a real quote, challenges of the digital era. Enjoy Kenya, it is Magical”

The two journos caused a storm on Twitter, which degenerated into ridicules from netizens aimed at Julie.

@awino_g accused the former news anchor of being a fraud by writing her own words and then attributing them to someone else to push her agenda.

In a post quoting Quest, that has since been pulled down, she wrote, “Nothing beats the service industry in Kenya...Here I am surrounded by giraffes while having breakfast!”

The post continued to read, “In a country declared by the World Bank as the Preferred Investment Destination in Africa...what else can I ask for?”

The celebrated CNN journalist responded denying that he did not say what she had posted.

Ahh Julie...a nice pic and sentiment. But I never actually said that! (Even though I am having a very good visit)” read Quest’s tweet.
