Kenyans React to Video Of Richard Quest With Julie Gichuru

Netizens reacted to video of Richard Quest hugging and kissing Julie Gichuru on the cheek at Nairobi National Park where he had been hosted by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala for breakfast.

The video showed Julie bumping into Quest who removed his hat and exchanged pleasantries, after which they both walk away in different directions.

The gesture seemed to prove that they had made up after a misunderstanding on Twitter.

Kenyans however, refused to buy the action, claiming that it looked stage managed to hoodwink their followers.

They faulted that it seemed uncomfortable and awkward adding that it was too convenient that the cameraman was able to capture the moment that took less than eight seconds.

John Ndinya tweeted: “All this dramatization will not erase the fact that she was spreading fake news.”

Tonny, however, defended the CNN journalist by stating: “Richard, I think u are a good person, most people from Western world want to paint Africa in a bad picture, but you are having a genuine true picture. Thank you”

They both grabbed the attention of social media users when Quest outed Julie for misquoting him in a tweet she posted on her timeline.

The post claimed that Quest had stated that “Nothing beats the service industry in Kenya...Here I am surrounded by giraffes while having breakfast! In a country declared by the World Bank as the Preferred Investment Destination in Africa...what else can I ask for?”

The celebrated CNN journalist responded denying that he did not say what she had posted.
