Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero can now walk easy as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has been barred from any further probe into his properties.
Lady Justice Hedwig Ong’udi issued the restraining orders on Thursday morning pending a ruling on the matter next week.
The Court order states, “The respondents to put on hold any further search or investigations pending the ruling on November 16.”
The former county boss wants the commission to be prevented from raiding his home and properties and is accusing them of infringing on his right to privacy.
Kenyans.co.ke had identified 58 properties that Kidero has cautioned the investigators about.
He claims that search warrants issued against him only end up in threats, attacks, harassment, and intimidation.
The politician argues that the officers are desperate to sustain the ongoing criminal case because it is on the verge of collapsing.
On September 20, detectives from the EACC raided Kidero’s home in Muthaiga and later took him to his office on Riverside Drive in Westlands Nairobi, where they mounted a search for documents believed to link him to the corruption charges he is facing.
According to EACC, Kidero's assets are worth around Sh9.1 billion but he later came out to clarify that he was worth no more than Ksh700 million.
He is accused, alongside nine others, for paying for services not rendered on diverse dates between January 16, 2014, and January 2016 when he was in charge of Nairobi City County Government.
