Grisly Accident Claims Lives of Two Passengers

Two passengers died in a grisly road accident involving a Prado and a matatu near Sagana bridge in Kirinyaga County.

Four others were injured in the head-on collision that occurred a few meters from Makutano market.

Sagana OCPD Joseph Matiku asserted that the two died on the spot while the injured were rushed to White Rose Hospital in Wanguru.

He pointed out that the Prado, which was coming from Nairobi, tried to overtake before colliding head-on with the matatu.

"The matatu rolled several times and the Prado sped off after the accident," the Police boss added.

Statistics showed that About 1,967 people have died on road accidents this year — 183 more than the number recorded at the same time last year.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority report, 2,905 people were seriously injured, an increase of 286 more than last year. Those slightly injured were 3,572, 466 more than last year.

Some 531 motorcyclists died, notably, by this time last year, 447 had died while some 450 passengers have died which is three less than it was last year.
