Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Comedian Vincent Mutua, popularly known as Chipukeezy on Friday clashed over who to offer help to the ailing Congestina Achieng'.
Teams from the two transcended to her home county of Siaya offering help to the former boxing champion who was recluse at the time.
The two faced off at an Airport in Kisumu when Sonko’s rescue team showed up with Congestina ready to fly her to Nairobi whereas that of Chipukeezy claimed they were the right fit to rehabilitate her.
“It is unfortunate that Sonko also had a plan to take her, but we are all in government so we hope he (Sonko) will take her to the rehabilitation centre proposed by NACADA because we understand it better,” Stated the comedian.
Chipukeezy, who had started the help appeal after a video of the former champ in deplorable state surfaced online, is a member of National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) board.
Congestina was however timid, for a period of one hour, in accepting the help claiming that several other people had offered to help only to abandon her at Mathare Mental Hospital.
Earlier this year, Congestina had been kicked out of a six-month rehabilitation plan in a center at Homa Bay for alleged aggression towards other clients.
Previously, several other parties among them former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Singer Nonini had offered help to the troubled former star.
Back in 2013, Congestina failed to settle a bill amounting to Ksh595,000 at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu but Governor Evans Kidero and businessman Sam Wakiaga offered to settle it on her behalf raising Ksh750,000.
Earlier that year as well, Churchill Ndambuki of Churchill show offered to settle her year’s worth of rent totaling to Ksh180,000 with Singer Herbert Nakitare clearing all past arrears.
