John Mbadi Finds DP Ruto's Solo Nyanza Trips Odd

Opposition legislators from the Luo Nyanza region have stepped up their criticism of the Deputy President William Ruto to their backyard.

The politicians, led by ODM Chairman John Mbadi, accused the Deputy President of being a loner who is not interested in the region's development.

Mbadi told local dailies that they had not been invited to take part in the series of events held in Migori and Homa Bay, maintaining that a late communication to him was an "afterthought,"

According to the National Assembly Minority Leader, it was weird and highly unexpected of the Deputy President to visit the area without any other state officials to initiate or commission projects.

“His failure to have even one PS, CS, or even CAS from the line ministries of the projects he was launching accompany him shows that he was not concerned about development in Nyanza,” Mbadi told Daily Nation on Tuesday.

The Suba South MP further indicated that only the County Commissioner sent him a message informing him of the event, just a few days to the visit, an invitation he dismissed.

In his view, the DP ought to have invited area elected leaders to a meeting in Nairobi to engage them on matters that concern the region, other than involving former MPs.

He faulted the close links between DP Ruto and the ex-legislators in Nyanza arguing that they had no mandate from the area residents.

"The best thing would have been to have his office invite us. He could have first invited us, the elected leaders, for a meeting in Nairobi to discuss issues of concern to our people,” held the ODM Chairman.
