Meru Senator Mithika Linturi Barred From His Home

Senator Mithika Linturi was on Wednesday afternoon barred by the court from setting foot in his home.

Granting exclusive occupation of their shared residence to his wife, Marianne Jebet Keitany, Senior Resident Magistrate I. Orenge further barred the Meru legislator from loitering near the home or any other place where his wife frequents.

In his ruling, Justice Orenge further barred the Senator from making any contact with his wife unless permitted by the court.

Linturi was also warned against threatening to damage any of the property associated with Keitany.

The interim order restrains the Senator "from physically or sexually abusing or threatening to abuse the Applicant, the Applicant’s staff, their six children and/or any other person associated with the Applicant".

Justice Orenge further ordered the Senator to allow Keitany access to any other of his residences in the company of an enforcement officer.

This access is intended to allow Keitany collect her personal belongings from the besieged couple’s shared residences.

The interim order also restrained "the respondent from intimidating, harassing, stalking and/or engaging in any behaviour which amounts to emotional, verbal or psychological abuse of the Applicant and/or the six children".

Keitany filed the case after her husband, a licensed gun holder, threatened to shoot her during a domestic brawl in their Runda home.

Linturi was later reportedly summoned to the DCI after the complaint was made although he denied reports that he recorded any statement over the allegations.
