ERC Announces New Fuel Prices for November 15 to December 15, 2018

Kenya will dig deeper into their pockets as a result of an increase in fuel prices announced by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

In its latest review, ERC on Wednesday announced that super petrol, diesel and kerosene prices had gone up by Ksh2.38, Ksh3.11 and Ksh2.99 respectively.

"In accordance with Legal Notice No.196 of 2010, the Energy (Petroleum Pricing) Regulations and the amendment thereof, ERC has calculated the maximum retail pump prices of petroleum products, which will be in force from 15th November to 14th December 2018," stated commission's Director General Pavel Oimeke.

The commission attributed the changes to increased fuel imports costs that have affected the global market since Septemeber this year.

"Changes in this month’s prices have been as a consequence of the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increasing by 4.02 per cent from US$ 729.04 per ton in September 2018 to US$ 758.34 per ton in October 2018," stated the ERC in its announcement.

In Nairobi, a litre of super petrol at the pump will trade at Ksh118.11 while diesel shall be retailing at Ksh112.35. Diesel and petrol will be sold in Mombasa at Ksh110.21 and Ksh115.45 respectively per litre.

Motorists in Kisumu and Eldoret will pay Ksh119.56 and Ksh119.57 respectively for each litre of super petrol while in Nakuru, the commodity shall be going for Ksh118.57 per litre.

The price of a litre of diesel in Kisumu and Nakuru will be the same, retailing at Ksh114.50 and Ksh114.51 in Nakuru.

Wajir and Mandera will pay the highest for petrol; Ksh125.79 and Ksh130.97 per litre of petrol.
