DP William Ruto Issues Stern Warning to Corrupt Friends

Deputy President William Ruto issued a stern warning to corrupt individuals stating that the war against graft would not spare anybody regardless of their connection to the government or its officers.

He was speaking at the 10th Development Partnership Forum with Cabinet Sectaries, Governors and development partners in Nairobi on Wednesday.

The fight against organised crime, mismanagement, theft and corruption is now running full steam and there are no friends, no relatives, and no political sides,” warned Ruto.

DP Ruto noted that every arm of the government has to weigh in on the assault against corruption, adding that “every citizen must play their part” if the country is to develop.

Some of his allies are suspicious of the war on corruption and see it as part of a political battle targeting him and his chances of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The meeting, which sought to understand the priority areas of the Big Four agenda, saw development partners pledge to align their strategies to the grand development agenda.

As part of the fight against corruption, the Deputy President noted that his office would be providing leadership on Open Government Partnership to foster transparency, accountability and promote citizen participation.

In June 2018, President Uhuru spoke about his brother Muhoho Kenyatta’s involvement in the sugar importation scandal.

Uhuru stated that Muhoho would carry his own cross if found culpable in the ongoing sugar importation investigations.

"People are out there bundling my brother... I have no problem. If he is guilty let him be dealt with, what's the problem?" the President commented.
