Citizen TV Picks Rival's Top Reporters

Royal Media Services has further stepped up its efforts to strengthen its newsdesk by poaching more personnel.

Citizen TV has picked political reporters Jane Goin and Apollo Kamau from the MediaMax Network-owned K24.

Goin, who started her career as a reporter at Capital FM before joining K24, in a telephone conversation, confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that she had indeed ditched the station for Citizen TV.

On the other hand, Kamau previously worked at KBC and Family Media before joining K24 in September 2007 as a current affairs reporter.

The duo's exit comes barely three months after senior news anchor Richard Kagoe, who also served as a Political Affairs reporter, quit for BBC Africa.

Senior reporters Duncan Khaemba, Anders Ihachi and Chris Thairu were also part of K24's desk until 2015 when more than 70 journalists were retrenched from the station.

Goin and Kamau are expected to power Citizen TV's political affairs desk which is without Jacque Maribe, whose career engagement was restricted by the criminal court.

The two will work with Gachuri, who in August this year, was promoted to the position of the Political Affairs Editor for Royal Media Services.

Citizen TV Editorial Director Joe Ageyo announced his promotion saying Gachuri was an experienced journalist having covered key political events in the country and beyond.

Ageo stated that he had confidence in Gachuri, and as such, was certain he would discharge his duties with distinction.
