A top performer in the released KCPE examination results has revealed how opposition leader Raila Odinga inspired him in his studies.
Telvin Gichuki, who was Embu's top student and scored 434 marks out of 500, stated that he aspired to be a civil engineer just like the seasoned politician.
“The former Prime Minister has been my role model and inspired me to work hard so that I can a be a civil engineer like him," he was quoted by the Star.
Borrowing a leaf from Raila's book, Gichuki (13) stated that becoming an engineer would allow him to make his mark in the infrastructural development agenda in President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four.
He added that the opposition chief, who was recently appointed as AU's High Representative of Infrastructure Development, had left a legacy during his tenure as the Minister of Roads, Public Works, and Housing from 2003 to 2005.
Gichuki further credited his stellar performance to hard work and obedience supplemented by a firm supportive structure comprising of his teachers and parents.
"Even during public holidays, I woke up early to study keeping in mind the teachers' instructions. I also prayed regularly," he added.
He disclosed that his desire was to join Alliance Boys High School to further his studies.
Education CS Amina Mohamed on Monday disclosed that the Form One selection process would commence on December 3.
She affirmed that all students would get slots to advance to Secondary schools.
