South Sudan Tycoon Lual Malong, who lived in Kenya a few months ago, was on Wednesday reported missing by Ugandan authorities.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the controversial tycoon’s family filed a report claiming that they had not heard from him since November 14.
They further revealed that Malong was taken from his hotel room in Kabalagala, Uganda by military-dressed persons in two vehicles.
“We are investigating the circumstances under which he was picked up...I can confirm he is not in our custody," stated the police spokesperson adding that his brother had reported the incidence.
A Juba-based radio station, Radio Tamazug, had first shed light over the missing-person case through their website.
“We do not know who abducted him from the hotel. What we know is that Lual has no problem with the government of Uganda. We are very concerned as his family members,” the station quoted a family relative.
Malong, who had appeared on Jeff Koinange Live, came under fire earlier in the year after he posted a video lying on millions of US dollars estimated to be more than one million.
In October, he even pledged financial support to the Kenya Universities’ Students Association (KUSO).
“I will stand with KUSO, and I will invest in KUSO… I will invest a lot of dollars in KUSO. I love youth, I will support youth, and I’m looking forward to the youth to change this country,” he stated.
Malong had been featured in John Allan Namu's investigative piece "The Profiteers" as the son to former South Sudan states man General Paul Malong.
