Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed revealed that some candidates who sat the 2018 KCSE will not receive their results.
She was speaking at Citam School in Nairobi when she noted that 2018 experienced a rise in a number of cheating incidents compared to the previous year.
She stated that 110 individuals, including candidates, had been arrested for attempting to steal the national tests.
Candidates of 10 exam centres also risk having their results cancelled after authorities established that the principals colluded with students to breach regulations.
Students who were caught with mobile phones will also not receive their results. Detectives are combing through data from 101 mobile phones that were confiscated from candidates, teachers and school staff.
Investigators reported that three students from North Eastern region and another from Nairobi were caught with exam material in their phone.
The CS also divulged that action had been taken against four candidates for impersonation.
Kenya National Examination Council Chairman (KNEC) George Magoha commented that the marking of the scripts had already started and that the results would be out in three weeks.
“We will ensure swift and efficient services are rendered so that the candidates can see their achievements before Christmas,” stated Magoha.
Last year, candidates in 10 schools did not get their results after KNEC established that they had engaged in malpractices.
