Interior CS Fred Matiang'i Confirms Police Uniform Project is Still Underway

Interior CS Fred Matian’gi has come out to rubbish claims that the new police uniform project is bound to fail.

This is after a report released this morning claimed that the police chiefs were unable to locally secure the Persian Blue material needed for the uniforms.

Matiang’i maintained that the project is still underway and added that the new uniforms had already been paid for.

The CS revealed that there have been cartels that have been pressuring them to import the material required hence the fake claims that the police could not find the materials.

He declared that they would not bow down to the cartels but would make the materials locally to promote the local textile industries.

“Take it to the bank, we will not import police uniforms,” Matiang’i stated with finality.

He also pointed out that it was outrageous that anyone would allege the fabric needed was lacking in Kenya considering the textile industry in the country.

“Why would the government put budget resources to revive Rivatex and provide jobs to people in Eldoret then proceed to import police uniforms from Turkey or China?” A bewildered Matiang’i asked.

He confirmed that Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho were spotted in Rivatex and other textile factories in the country to assess the capacity of these factories to produce the uniform.

This is contrary to previous claims that reported that the two were scouting for fabric.
