IG Joseph Boinnet Steps Out in New Police Uniform [PHOTOS]

The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet on Tuesday tried on the new police uniforms for the first time.

In the photos posted on social media, the IG could be seen wearing the new navy blue uniform and making different poses.

These poses included standing at attention and also while working at his desk.

This was in preparation for the new launch date slated for Jamhuri Day on December 12 which will be officially launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The uniform has the side of the arms donning the label “POLICE” while retaining the blue, yellow, red strips of the service.

National Police Service tasked the National Youth Service with making the new police uniforms for more than 60,000 officers.

They are burning the midnight oil to beat the deadline of distributing the uniforms to officers ahead of the launch on Jamhuri Day,” stated Boinnet at the time.

To settle for the colour, a team, popularly known as Uniform Committee, was tasked with coming up with the design of the uniform.

However, the new design brought the Inspector general of police at loggerheads with the Director of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti.

The two openly disagreed during a meeting at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road on November 24 with the DCI claiming that after coming to effect, they will be required to report to police of lower ranks.
