US Govt Gifts DCI After Nabbing Akasha Brothers

United State’s government on Tuesday upgraded Kenya’s Anti-Narcotics Unit to the sensitive investigations unit of its Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Making the announcement, DEA country attaché Steven Hummel also gifted the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), led by George Kinoti, two vans.

The gifts followed successful interceptions, investigations and arrests of high profile drug dealers most notably the ongoing Akasha probe.

Following successful interceptions, investigations & arrests of high profile Drug Dealers by the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the DCI, the US government thro’ it’s (DEA) has today announced the upgrade of Formal Vetted Unit(FVU) of Kenya’s ANU to DEA’s Sensitive Investigations Unit,” stated DCI.

Kenya joins 14 other countries in the world and only among three in Africa to be bestowed with the prestigious status.

DCI revealed that the new vans would be used for critical operations by the Anti-Narcotic Unit.

In October, DCI disclosed that they presented “a watertight case” that helped nab the two Akasha brothers, Baktash Akasha Abdalla and Ibrahim Akasha Abdalla.

Director of the DCI Anti-Narcotic Unit had personally flown to the United States to have the two brothers plead guilty to the charges.

In a recent development, an ODM governor and his brother were reportedly among those who have been named as cartels by the two brothers.

The list of shame also mentions tens of other high profile Kenyan leaders including those in the police service.
