How 8 Ambira Boys High School Performed in 2018 KCSE

Eight Ambira Boys High School students who were caught on video admitting to have cheated during KCSE exams performed rather dismally.

The students were hurling insults at Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and his Education counterpart Amina Mohamed in the video.

Three of them scored D (plain), two got D+(plus), one attained C-(minus) and the other got a mean grade of B-(minus)

The video, which went viral, elicited criticism from many Kenyans, with President Uhuru Kenyatta promising that the boys would not escape the law.

"You can brag about cheating. We will show you what the State does with cheats," Uhuru stated during his speech at the Kenya Scouts Association Patron Day.

The students were arrested after their school principal Thomas Kogola reported them at Ugunja Police Station.

They were, however, released on December 3 after Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji withdrew the charges issued against them.

The former students were also asked to cooperate with the police during the ongoing investigations.

The 2018 KCSE candidates had been in cells since November 23, 2018 before their release.

Their arrest sparked mixed reactions with many expressing that the move was uncalled for as the students were mature enough to realise their wrongs.
