Chief Justice David Maraga to Pay For Driver's Treatment

Chief Justice David Maraga has revealed how he plans to deal with the driver of the car that collided with his on Saturday.

Maraga has pledged to pay for the treatment of Kigen, who sustained more injuries.

"The Inspector General of Police has this morning assured me Mr Kigen, the driver of the other vehicle who got more serious injuries than we did is in stable condition," read part of the statement by Maraga.

"We are praying for him and will do anything we can to assist his treatment," Maraga added.

The CJ also thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for ordering an airlift for him and his wife Yucabeth Nyaboke from Nakuru to Nairobi for further treatment.

Maraga also extended words of gratitude to Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga for their goodwill messages.

He disclosed that Raila had visited them and prayed with them on Sunday morning. "We are touched by goodwill messages of DP Ruto and Raila, the latter having visited us this morning and prayed with us," stated Maraga.

The couple had been involved in a grisly road accident while on their way to church on Saturday morning.

His driver and aide were not injured in the accident.

Maraga sustained head injuries while his wife was in shock but stable.
