6 Perish in Grisly Accident at Chebarus Along Kapsabet-Chemelil Road

Six people perished in a grisly accident on Saturday at Chebarus along Kapsabet-Chemelil road in Nandi County.

Reports indicate that the matatu driver lost control of the vehicle after the brakes failed.

Photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke show the matatu registration number KBL 487S registered under NAMASCO SACCO reduced into a wreckage.

The County Police Commander Patrick Wambani confirmed the unfortunate incident.

A quick research on social media, however, reveals numerous complains against NAMASCO SACCO, some of which date back to 2016.

Some of the complains lodged include overloading and reckless driving by some of the Sacco's drivers.

The Inspector General of Police Joseph Kipchirchir Boinnet has in the past blamed rising road accidents on human error arising from the drivers and boda boda riders.

Speaking in August at the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) offices in Upperhill, Boinnet urged boda boda riders and drivers to obey traffic laws.

"It is sheer stupidity that causes unnecessary fatalities," Boinnet quipped after receiving enforcement equipment from NTSA.
