Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich became the topic of conversation after he stepped out of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s press conference donning a pair of oversized trousers.
The CS shocked Kenyans especially because he is known for his dapper suits.
The President had called for the presser to announce the new price that the government would buy maize at.
Rotich, who was flanking the President, did not look his best as the Uhuru was going about his address.
Joy Kinyua commented on the president’s Facebook post noting, “Hii trouser ya Rotich inakaa ndiyo itawekwa hiyo mahindi (It looks like Rotich’s trousers will be used to store the maize).”
Boaz Kandie wrote, “I also direct that Mr Rotich be bought a new pair of trousers, may as many who are of the same opinion say hiiii [sic]”
Another user wondered whether the tailor who made it had been arrested.
Other Kenyans turned to ask the President why his Deputy, William Ruto, was absent from the press conference.
They were concerned about his silence amidst the wrangles that threatened to destroy the Jubilee Party.
In the address that was also graced by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, Uhuru set the number of maize bags to be purchased at 2 million.
Where did Rotich get this trouser from 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/gV1Wz82b9P
The humbleness on Kiunjuri and Rotich looks suspect. It's as if they have received slaps in dozens 😂😂 #NCPB pic.twitter.com/8ykiMGJ6rh
The president must have slapped kiunjuri and rotich 😂😂😂😂 the humility on their faces doesn’t look genuine #NCPB pic.twitter.com/RBqWVlKK0u
