Gov Nyong'o Airlifted to Nairobi

Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o was on Sunday airlifted to Nairobi for specialized treatment.

Confirming the news, Aga Khan Dr Sam Oula stated that the county head was transferred to Nairobi for further tests after he was diagnosed with low blood pressure.

According to reports, he was airlifted by AMREF flying doctors service accompanied by his bodyguards, doctors and family members.

Earlier on Saturday, the governor was rushed to hospital after falling sick during the installation ceremony of Reverend Philip Anyolo as the new Catholic Archbishop.

Nyong'o was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.

Speaking to journalists, Dr Oula said the governor was feeling dizzy when he arrived at the facility, adding that they administered the necessary medication.

He was among a host of leaders who welcomed ODM Party leader Raila Odinga at Uzima Grounds where the function was held.

The first-term governor has battled ill health since 2010 when he announced that he was taking a break after being diagnosed with prostrate cancer.

He would later fly out to San Fransisco, US, where went through intensity modulated radiation therapy and was cured.
