Sonko to Reshuffle Employees at Nairobi Water & Sewerage Company

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is planning to carry out another reshuffle days after he announced his new 10-member cabinet.

In a statement to newsrooms, the governor declared that he was determined to fight water cartels in Nairobi.

"There is a cartel at Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company that has been frustrating my people. Next week, I will carry out a reshuffle to dismantle that cartel at Nairobi Water," Sonko stated.

He explained that the reshuffle, which would affect all the employees of Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, was meant to ensure efficiency in service delivery.

He noted that the water cartels had been frustrating the city residents.

Sonko added that Nairobi residents are spending so much on water because of the cartel that had been diverting the precious commodity.

Earlier in December, Sonko offered city dwellers rewards for arresting water cartels and rogue Nairobi City County officials.

Residents were promised a Kshs300,000 reward for apprehending cartels known to divert water to private vendors in various estates.

A reward of Kshs10,000 was further promised for busting rogue county officials who collude with the cartels to divert water.

Many estates in Nairobi experience frequent water shortages enabling private vendors to cash in by distributing the commodity using water boozer tanker.

"Investigations reveal that the water shortage being experienced in many parts of Nairobi is as a result of sabotage by water cartels whose days are now numbered," he conveyed.
