Jason Spindler, a 9/11 Survivor Killed in Riverside Attack

In an unlikely twist of fate, Jason Spindler, a man who survived the 9/11 World Trade Center bombing has perished in the Riverside attack.

Jonathan Spindler, a brother to the deceased, confirmed the death of his sibling at Dusit D2 Hotel, 14 Riverside Drive, Nairobi.

"It's with a heavy heart that I announce that my brother, Jason Spindler passed away this morning during a terror attack in Nairobi. Jason was a survivor of 9/11 and a fighter. I am sure he gave them hell," Jonathan stated.

Dennis Itumbi also eulogized the man "Sad that we lost Spindler. A great guy. I did not know he survived 9/11 too. A great guy, who loved Tech solutions and shared them freely. Go well".

The man, who was the CEO of I-DEV International, was among the 14 innocent people killed during the attack.

"He was trying to make positive change in the third world in emerging markets. We all miss him so much. And it's so sad that such a bright young person is taken away by terrorism," his mother, Sarah Spindler was quoted by NBC News.

"He was a strong player and supporter of the Kenyan Tech Ecosystem. We pray for God's grace and comfort for the family and team at I-Dev," a tweep by the name Sam Gichuru eulogised the man.

Another sad account of the victims of the terror attack is of one James Odu Cobra, a football enthusiast who died a few hours to his birthday.

Cobra had tweeted a few minutes after the attack began enquiring what was happening outside the building.

"Waaaah. What's happening at 14 Riverside fam? Any news from out there?" Cobra posted on Twitter.

Eulogizing Cobra, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen indicated that "He was a lovely chap. Always happy and funny. I enjoyed playing football against him a couple of times. I enjoyed the banter and the way he liked teasing me".

Renowned BBC Journalist Larry Madowo termed the deceased footballer as a friend from university.

"It was the eve of his birthday. He was one of the nicest, happiest people I’ve ever met. Rest well, Odu, nind maber. The world is better because you lived," Madowo tweeted.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed also lost a cousin to the same terror attack..

"The cousin Feisal Ahmed Rashid and his friend Abdalla Mohamed Dahir as they were having Lunch at the restaurant," he stated.
