Riverside Terrorist Ali Gichunge's Girlfriend Disappears to Somalia

New details have emerged over the whereabouts of the girlfriend to one of the terrorists who attacked Dusit D2 hotel in Riverside, Nairobi.

According to Nation Media, Police believe that Violet Kemunto, the bride to Ali Salim Gichunge alias Farouk, escaped to Somalia.

The couple's plan was that the bride would first go to Somalia and her husband would soon follow after the attack was completed but that was not to be since he was shot dead.

An earlier report by the Standard indicated that Kemunto, who is a trained journalist, had been taken into police custody on Tuesday night hours after the attack at the hotel.

Police Spokesperson Charles Owino, in a phone conversation with Kenyans.co.ke, revealed that he could not expose the information especially since the matter was still under probe.

"Just be patient, once we have put up everything together and we feel it is necessary to communicate, we will be able to communicate. Our objective is work, to arrest those Jangilis (terrorists), all of them.

"Actually, I am supposed to communicate with you so that we inform Kenyans of what we are doing but the jurisprudence of what we are doing is so preliminary so I would be unfair to the DCI," stated Owino.

On Monday morning, just a day before the attack, Kemunto, through a pseudo name on Facebook, posted that they were selling their property

"We are moving out of Nairobi this week so it is a quick sale. Prices slightly negotiable," read a post by Junior Red, her dummy account.

The items were an indicator that they were leading a very expensive lifestyle.

Among them was a 49-inch smart TV, a seven-seater velvet sofa set, a Ramtons two-door fridge.
