NTSA Issues New Directive on Issuance of Smart Driving Licences

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a new directive to motorists on the issuance of smart driving licences.

In the latest directive posted on its Twitter page, the institution informed drivers that they could book appointments for the Issuance of the licences from January 24, 2019.

It directed that drivers do so through their Transport Integrated Management Systems (TIMS) account on  www.ntsa.go.ke.

NTSA also cautioned drivers against sharing their passwords and login codes to avoid malicious activities.

To register for the smart driving licences, NTSA had previously released information on how and where applicants would apply.

The Authority advised drivers to visit their offices at MVI Likoni Road (Nairobi), Nakuru, Mombasa (Imara Building), Kisumu, Kisii, Machakos, Eldoret, Thika and Nyeri for assistance.

"During the application process, the system will generate an invoice of Ksh 3,050. All payments shall be made online,” NTSA had directed.

After payment, an NTSA official will take a digital picture, the applicant's biometrics, and their digital signature.

On completion of the application process, one will be advised when to collect their Smart Driving Licence.

The validity period for the document will be three (3) years.
