Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr Warns Kenyans on Fraudsters Using His Name

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr took to Facebook to alert Kenyans on fraudsters conning members of the public using his name.

According to Mutula Jr, the fraudsters were using a pseudo account on Facebook with his details to solicit funds from unsuspecting Kenyans.

“My account has been drawn to a pseudo account on Facebook as exhibited below bearing my name and profile picture and whose administrator is allegedly soliciting funds from members of the public, Disguising as the Senator of Makueni,” he wrote.

The senator confirmed that the account was fake and at no time would he and his staff seek financial assistance from members of the public.

This is to notify members of the public that at no given time do my staff or I seek financial assistance from anybody for services rendered,” Mutula continued.

He also urged the public to report the said fraudsters to the nearest police stations in case they personally encountered them.

The said account is therefore fake and any person(s) found soliciting money from the public should be treated as fraudsters and reported to the nearest police station for legal action,” he concluded.

This is not the first time fraudsters are using prominent politicians’ profiles to defraud unknowing Kenyans.

On January 6, 2019, Rachel Ruto exposed scammers who were duping Kenyans about a free vehicle competition using her name.

I would like to alert the public of a scheme by con men and women using my name to purportedly give out vehicles in fraudulent business promotion. I am NOT running any competition or giving out any cars,” she reported.

In August 2018, Police arrested suspects using DP  William Ruto's office details to scam Kenyans millions of shillings through a fake laptop project.
