Three suspects who had been arrested in connection with Riverside terror attack have been set free.
According to a decision by a Nyeri Court, the three were set free on grounds that the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) lacked enough evidence
ATPU reportedly closed the files for the three suspects explaining that the probe did not reveal any offences nor links to the attack.
The three included Abdul Kibiringi, James Mwai and Habiba Hunshur.
They had been arraigned in court on Monday in connection with the attack and ordered to spend five days in Police custody as investigators sought to obtain their call logs.
They were arrested on Friday last week over claims that initial investigations linked them with other suspects in the terror attack that claimed 21 lives.
"Police are waiting for call logs data to finalise the investigations," stated ATPU Constable Newton Mwangi at the time.
The attack took place on January 15 and several suspects have been arrested in connection with it.
On January 21, Police arrested four other suspects in connection with the Dusit D2 Hotel attack after they surrendered themselves.
The four were among eight suspects who the authorities had published as wanted suspects in relations with the attack.
The six Included Didu Mohamed Fugicha, Hussein Adan Hussein, Gadaffi Munene, Abdi Ali Kanchora, Boru Abdi Bidu, Ramadhan Wario Bonaya, and two other unidentified suspects.
