The first wife of murder suspect Joseph Kori has emerged after nine years to provide a shoulder for her husband to lean on.
Grace Wanjiku, who first met Joseph through a mutual friend, has vowed to stand in his defence despite how much he hurt her when they separated.
She stated that she would stand with her husband because she still loves him and, even though he left, she forgave him.
“The court will decide whether he is guilty or innocent, but I will stand by him. He is the father of my child and he taught me love [sic]," proclaimed Grace.
She narrated her shock after seeing Joseph for the first time in nine years, on January 30, on TV being charged for murder.
She explained that when he saw the suspect presented in court, she saw a man overwhelmed by circumstances.
"I saw the video clips of him in court, wiping his tears next to a woman I knew nothing about, accused of the worst crime under the sun," Wanjiku told Nation.
After learning that Joseph was accused of killing his other wife, Mary Wambui Kamangara, with the help of his girlfriend, Judy Wambui, Grace started wondering "what if I was in his life?"
"Would I have been the one murdered? What will happen to his children now? What exactly happened, and who is this other woman?" she questioned herself further.
The mutilated body of Mary was found dumped in a dam near Mugutha estate in Juja constituency on Sunday evening.
