The United States Embassy in Nairobi has announced plans to recruit 40 candidates who sat for the 2018 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Taking to social media, the embassy revealed that they were looking for academically strong Kenyan students who had scored an A- or above.
The post further revealed that the students stood a chance to win a scholarship from the US known as EducationUSA Scholars Program (ESP).
“Our (Education) office seeks to identify and recruit 40 academically strong Kenyan students who scored A- and above in the 2018 KCSE, to join the EducationUSA Scholars Program (ESP),” read the post.
The interested students, however, have until February 18, 2019, to apply for the position whose application credentials can be found on the embassy’s website.
According to their website, all the students will be required to have letters of recommendation and personal statements besides the good grades.
“Applying to highly selective universities and for scholarships requires excellent secondary school grades. The SAT and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) are required for most applicants, as are letters of recommendation and personal statements,” read the statement.
The EducationUSA Advising Center at the Embassy in Nairobi is an official affiliate of the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
The centre is mandated with obtaining accurate and unbiased information on higher education studies in the US for interested students.
Academic fees for colleges in the US range between $15,000 (KShs1.5 million) to $60,000 (KShs6 million).
