DCI Kinoti Transfers All Senior Officers From Kiambu County Over Carjacking Saga

The Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has transferred all senior officers in Kiambu County after they tried to cover up a carjacking incident.

The County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Amos Tebeny and all the Divisional Criminal Investigations Officers (DCIOs) and have been recalled to police headquarters.

Kinoti’s decision was prompted by an incident, on Tuesday night, in which DCI officers stationed at Tigoni allegedly tried to cover up the carjacking of a lorry.

They instead arrested the lorry owner and officers from Parklands Police Station who were tracking it.

The lorry, belonging to Asini Shah, was ferrying goods belonging to Kapa Oil Refineries to Nakuru when it was carjacked around Mai Mahiu.

Shah, who was monitoring the vehicle from Mombasa, rushed to Parklands Police Station to report the incident after noticing it was returning to Nairobi.

When he accompanied the security personnel from Parklands to the carjacking scene, officers from Tigoni arrested and detained them as they released the alleged carjackers.

Under instructions from Tigoni DCIO, the officers reportedly attempted to frame their colleagues from Parklands and Shah as the carjackers.

According to People Daily, some officers may be sacked and others interdicted.

Kinoti has since directed Nairobi Area CCIO Nicholas Kamwende to take over the matter.
