How Former CS Helped Jubilee Access Servers 10 Times - IEBC

The IEBC has rekindled the controversy that arose following the nullified presidential election in 2017.

In an internal Post Evaluation Report, the commission states that both NASA and Jubilee Party accessed their servers that were used in transmitting the election results.

According to the report, former Energy CS Davis Chirchir who was Jubilee's Chief Agent made 10 successful logins after 24 attempts.

NASA had accused the former IEBC official, who is also a tech expert, of helping Jubilee rig the election in President Uhuru Kenyatta's favour.

Even as they pointed fingers at the ruling party, NASA also made 54 attempts to log into the IEBC's server through their agent John Walubengo, 20 of which were successful.

In a clarification, the report explains that it is the Commission that gave the individuals the credentials to monitor the progress of their candidates.

This enabled them to view the results as they were being received from polling stations across the country.

The report was released in order to counter false information regarding the disputed poll that ended up being nullified by the Supreme Court.

During the petition hearing, NASA lawyers led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo claimed IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati’s account was used to access the servers several times to manipulate the content.

The coalition argued that Chebukati’s account had 9,934 transaction logs, some from an unauthorised IP address used multiple times to transfer, delete and modify files.
