Drama unfolded in Kiambu when police officers were forced to arrest their colleague for criminal charges of being in possession of stolen goods and rolls of bhang.
The items were discovered following a search operation initiated after a tip-off by two Ethiopian nationals, Temesgen Daka and Tesfaye Shebeshi Assefahe.
Police officers had to storm the house belonging to an Inspector in the Kahara area of Kiambu after the Ethiopians reported that their valuables had been stolen by officers who arrested them on Wednesday, February 6.
The officers had confronted them (Ethiopians) on grounds of being in the country illegally before reportedly robbing them of their valuables.
In the process of being manhandled by the arresting officers, a wristwatch and laptop were grabbed from them. The items were not recorded at the police station when the foreigners were taken into custody as is required by the law.
Following the complaint by the Ethiopians, the arresting officers were questioned about the stolen items but they denied having any involvement or knowledge about them.
It was not until a search operation for the items in the houses of the officers was ordered by Kiambaa sub-county OCPD Ngare Riko that the items were found.
The search operation also resulted in discovering of 22 rolls of bhang in the house belonging to one officer, an inspector identified as Nyagah.
According to an OB report that was filed, “An inventory was prepared and signed by the above-mentioned officers and also witnessed by AP sergeant Jackson Kimanthi and Administration Police sergeant Josphine Migaine.”
