Universities in Kenya: List of Public and Private Universities

It is no secret that all students who sit in the classrooms harbor dreams of realizing university education.



Education has been termed as the fuel of a nation’s economic growth, a driver of invention and innovation and a necessary platform for job creation. 



In the last two decades, Kenya has shown huge growth in the education sector with an increasing number of Kenyan youth seeking to further their education and receive university degrees.



For instance, the number of students who qualified for university admission for the 2019 intake reportedly increased by about 20,000.

In accordance with the universities act as of  July 2018, Kenyans.co.ke has compiled a list of all chattered universities by the Commission of University Education (CUE).



CUE is the Government agency mandated to ensure the maintenance of standards, quality, and relevance in all aspects of university education, training and research. It is also mandated to approve all courses before they are launched.



In 2018, the University of Nairobi was ranked the best among public universities while Strathmore University emerged top among private universities.
