Police Officers Arrested for Stealing Confiscated Heroin

EDetectives from the Special Crimes Unit have arrested two police officers after they were caught on tape stealing narcotics.

The two, Corporal Alloys Onyango and Constable Arbanus Mutunga, reportedly made away with more than 25 Kgs of heroin.

The drugs in question had been seized from traffickers and kept at a local police station.

A proxy identified as Peter Odogo Okoth was used by the two officers to lay a trap on two other drug traffickers and owners of the narcotics.

The policemen seized the drugs from Alfric Odhiambo Otieno and Kenneth Sinzore before dumping them.

Onyango and Mutunga were later arrested by officers from the Special Crime Unit, a department within the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Their arrest elicited mixed reactions from social media users. While some heaped praised on the DCI for the good work, others claimed that the officers are forced to steal because of their poor salaries.

This incident comes barely a month after 3 police officers were arrested in connection to a burglary in Nairobi's Industrial area.

It was alleged that the officers had stolen 3 cartons of energy saver light bulbs before they were nabbed by an undercover team.
