Police Net Ksh1.5M Bhang at Accident Scene in Naivasha

Police in Naivasha, on Saturday, unearthed bhang worth Ksh1.5 million at an accident scene along Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Police arrested the 46-year-old driver of the vehicle who was taken to a hospital under tight police security.

Another suspect, who was a passenger in the same vehicle, fled and police launched a manhunt for him.

"Early today, police officers seized bhang worth millions of shillings after a serious accident at Delamere area along Nakuru-Nairobi road.

"A 46-year-old driver arrested and under police watch as he recovers in hospital. One suspect escaped and is being pursued by Police," posted DCI on social media.

Confirming the incident, Naivasha subcounty police commander Samuel Waweru revealed that the motorist attempted to overtake a fleet of vehicles to escape police roadblocks when the accident happened.

“It was obvious the motorist was speeding in attempt to dodge police manning several roadblocks mounted along the busy highway,” stated Waweru.

Waweru further disclosed that the bhang was destined for Mombasa.

In a separate incident, a Mombasa businessman, Abdulmajid Mselem Timami, was on Friday arrested after Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives found 1kg of heroin worth at least Sh1.5 Million in his car.

According to Mombasa DCI boss Washington Njiru, Timami had concealed the drugs in his new model Honda wrapped in a polythene bag.

"The drug was wrapped in a polythene bag as he was preparing to make a delivery to his chain of distributors," the police report read.
