Rabai OCS Faulted For Shooting Bakari Mohammed

Rabai OCS Philip Lucheveleli is under probe by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after he allegedly shot a 17-year-old boy, Standard reports.

Rabai sub-county police commander David Maina revealed that Lucheveleli shot Bakari Mohammed while on patrol with his colleagues along the Kaloleni-Mazeras Road on Thursday night.

The officers had arrested four men at a drinking den and were escorting them to their vehicle when they heard commotion on the other side of the road.

Moments later, people started pelting them with stones prompting the OCS to fire in the air.

The officers were not aware that someone had been shot until 3 am when a woman made a report that her grandson had been injured.

Mohammed's grandmother revealed that he was shot while peeping from the house.

She found him in a pool of blood after being hit on the left side of his chest.

He was taken to a local dispensary before being transferred to Coast General Hospital where he is recuperating.

Local leaders, including former Rabai-Kisurutini MCA Kenga Mupe, have demanded the suspension of Lucheveleli.

They claim that he will interfere with investigations if he remains in office.
