The mother of the key suspect in the murder of Ivy Wangechi, has commented about his son being allegedly involved in her murder.
Nancy Kinuthia claimed that the son, Naftali Kinuthia, was in a relationship with Ivy but had separated a while back.
"Najua relationship ni ya kitambo ata kama hajapata kazi (The relationship started long before he even had a job)," she stated.
Speaking to KTN News, the mother stated that her son being implicated in the death of the medical student came as a puzzle to the family.
"I even told his father and he still cannot believe that it is Njahi who did this," she noted.
Naftali's mother added that she had never had a problem with his son as he always appeared a calm person.
Wangechi's friends, on Tuesday, recounted how the assailant trailed her for a year before hacking her to death.
It is alleged that Naftali was beaten up by a mob and was hospitalized in the same facility he had committed the heinous crime, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Wangechi was a sixth-year medical student at Moi University School of Medicine.
She had been at the hospital carrying out practicals when the man discretely arrived and parked his car inside the institution before hacking her to death.
