DP Ruto's Plan to Get Another Chopper

Deputy President William Ruto is planning to get another chopper to ease his trips across the country.

This is after his office placed an advertisement in a local daily calling for suitable bids to lease a helicopter and a fixed wing to his office.

The Government of Kenya through the Office of the DP invites tenders for the two air charter services.

Applications to supply the aircrafts include payment of a non-refundable fee of Ksh 1,000, and one also needs to be registered with relevant trades and categories.

One also needs to have a security worth Ksh500,000 from an established bank or a recognized Insurance Company.

The tender documents are available at Ruto's Harambee House Annex offices 1st Floor, room  1512/13.

The tender applicants are required to ensure that the quoted price of supply remains valid for 120 days after the opening of the tender.

"The Government reserves the right to reject any tender and does not bind itself to accept  the lowest or any tender," the advertisement  reads.

Ruto is rumoured to own at least one private helicopter although Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, has in the past alleged that he is the one who lends out his chopper to the DP.

The cost of hiring a chopper in Kenya goes for as high as Ksh150,000 to Ksh200,000 per hour depending on the leasing company and model of the aircraft.
