Autopsy Reveals Prison Wardens Caroline Jepchirchir' Cause of Death

A postmortem examination conducted on Thursday at the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital mortuary has revealed the cause of death of Caroline Jepchirchir.

The examination conducted by Government pathologist Titus Ngulungu revealed the prison warden had blood clots on the neck, tongue, nose and both hands.

“The doctor informed us after the postmortem that Caroline was strangled. The body had blood clots on the neck, tongue, nose and hands,” stated Joel Kurgat, Jepchirchir's uncle.

The warder's body was found on Wednesday in a thicket at Githiolo village in Subukia, Nakuru County after missing for a week.

Reports by The Standard indicated the family asked the police to speed investigations of who had killed their kin.

“The police should intensify investigations and arrest those behind the death of my daughter to guarantee the family justice,” stated Michael Chesire, the deceased's father.

He also stated he last spoke to Jepchirchir on Tuesday at 7pm before her phone went off.

Chesire had travelled to the Nakuru Central police station after he failed to reach her for days via phone.

"Her constant silence was worrying and I was therefore forced to lodge a complaint, only to receive the heartbreaking news of her death,” he added.

A prison warden who is also a suspect, Joseph Kairu, was arrested in connection to her disappearance as sleuths probed answers from the man.

Kairu was one of the people that had been seen last with Jepchirchir on April 3, 2019, while another, her boyfriend, is still being sought.
