Police Threatens to Shoot His Drunk Boss

Drama unfolded at a bar in Mairo-inya, Nyandarua county, after an Administration Police (AP) officer drew his gun and threatened to shoot a senior police instructor.

The AP had driven to the bar with the Igwamiti Deputy County Commissioner Joyce Irungu when the drama unfolded.

Irungu, who is from the neighboring Laikipia county, had been taken to that bar by the AP to meet up with some friends in an official police Land Cruiser.

A witness who was in the same bar with the senior officer revealed to Nation that the revelers heard a commotion out and when they went to investigate, they found the two officers in a heated argument.

We rushed outside and found the two officers in a confrontation. The instructor threatened his junior with dire consequences stating that he was his senior. He accused the AP of being disrespectful to him. It is at this point that the AP removed a gun and threatened to shoot the other officer,” stated the witness.

Officers from the Mairo-inya police station had to be called in to disarm the AP officer which prompted him to escape with the vehicle at a high speed leaving the sub-county administrator stranded.

Laikipia County Commissioner Onesmus Kyatha contradicted the information claiming that the incident took place at a narrow road, not a bar.

I am informed that the two officers were driving on a narrow path from opposite directions but none would give way. The AP driver got angry, alighted from the police Land Cruiser and threatened to attack the senior officer,” alleged Kyatha.

The county commissioner was unaware of the administrator's business with a police vehicle late at night.

Nyandarua County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich confirmed that the incident was under investigations by senior police officers from Ndaragwa Sub-County in Nyandarua, but added that the disciplinary action against the DCC and the AP would be taken by his Laikipia counterpart.
