Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua, was trolled on Wednesday on social media following a photo he posted on Facebook having a meal with fellow leaders.
In the photo, the Governor is seen enjoying fish and ugali, together with MPs, MCAs and his party officials.
"I tucked into fresh Lake Victoria Tilapia accompanied by ugali and kunde and washed down with a bottle of water.
"As we ate, it broke my heart to know that majority of Kenyans cannot afford such a simple meal," read part of the caption.
He added that it was important to change the economy and add money into people's pockets.
Netizens did not take a part of his caption lightly, with most flooding the comment section to disapprove his comment.
"I tucked into fresh victoria tilapia accompanied by ugali".. this is mockery to starving Kenyans! you could have taken your colleagues to distribute foodstuffs to the hungry, you broke the heart of that tilapia," Julius Kipngetich stated.
"Your statement is quite sarcastic, intimidating, hypocritical and provocative to the less fortunate Kenyans," noted Japheth Kivuitu.
"Stop pretense!! You knew it even before. What action did u take other than packing it into your stomachs n go while the majority you are talking about never ate anything for lunch, "Onesmus Mutuku weighed in.
