Ruto Vows to Help Jonathan Moi's Wife Make Money

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday gave a promise to the late Jonathan Moi's wife Sylvia, to help her make money.

During his speech at the deceased's funeral service at Kabarak University, Ruto acknowledged Sylvia as the farmer of the family and vowed to help her and other farmers make better returns from agriculture.

The DP is a well-known farmer of dairy, maize and poultry, which he was engaged in before he joined politics.

"We want to support as government people like mama Sylvia and your family to get better returns from farming. I am saying this because we are sending off a man who distinguished himself as a farmer," Ruto spoke.

Indeed, Jonathan or JT as he was known to his friends, graduated with BSc Agriculture from the University of Delaware in the US.

Ruto also reminded the mourning widow of a verse from the scriptures in a bid to console her.

"Psalms 20:7 tells us, some trust in chariots, others trust in horses but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. I encourage you to trust not in men but trust in God. God will never let you down," Ruto stated.

The DP concluded his speech with another Bible verse from the book of Daniel 11:32.

"Lakini wale wanaomjua Mungu wao, watakuwa hodari na watafanya mambo makubwa (But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits). Mama Sylvia you know your God. Utakuwa hodari na familia yako na mtafanya mambo makuu kwa sababu ya Mungu mnayemwamini (You and your family will be strong and will do exploits because of the God you believe in)," Ruto uplifted the mourning family.

The DP had on Wednesday visited Sylvia at her home in Kabimoi where he consoled with the family.

He reiterated the importance of cancer screening as the government improves strategies to battle the killer disease which claimed Jonathan's life.
