Students Shocked as Strangers Set Up Homes in School Compound

Bondeni Primary School in Nakuru was the scene of a bizarre incident as students reporting back for the first day of school following the holidays found a whole section of the school cordoned off and occupied by unknown families.

Reports by The Standard revealed that fifteen families had taken over a section of the school and transformed it into their own personal homes complete with a fence separating them from the rest of the school.

Learners streamed in only to find the strange site of corrugated iron sheets barring them from a section of the school that was previously accessible.

The school’s Board chairperson, Maxine Njoki, affirmed that the families were total strangers, adding that the situation placed the security of the students in great jeopardy.

“We have no idea who they are and how they came to settle in the nursery section of the school," Ms Njoki disclosed.

The school's nursery section which initially accommodated 35 students is reportedly down to justs 11 who were shifted to a makeshift classroom.

Ms Njoki stated that she had reached out to the relevant authorities within the education sector as she had a survey map that proved that the school owned the 10.33-acre piece of land including the section occupied by the strangers.

“The house occupied by the unknown persons belongs to the school. We are seeking clarity from the Education Department and the county government as to what exactly is happening,” she divulged.

Strangely, all efforts by the chairperson to meet and have a dialogue with the strangers have proved futile despite the fact that the families reportedly use the same gate with the pupils to gain access into their new homes.

Nakuru Town East Deputy County Commissioner, Harman Shambi, has since confirmed having received a report concerning the bizarre incident at Bondeni Primary School.
