Uhuru's CS Deployed to Handle Ruto's Critics and Allies

Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri and Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi have been picked by Mount Kenya leaders to spearhead mediation talks between two differing factions of the Jubilee Party.

The two camps christened 'team Kieleweke' (anti-Ruto)and 'team Tanga Tanga' (pro-Ruto) have been on a collision course that threatens the unity of the ruling party.

Kiunjuri and Kiraitu were hand-picked during a meeting in Meru County on Sunday, April 28.

“We are in dialogue to form a powerful political bloc to enable us get [sic] our share of the national cake. If we remain divided, others in Tanga Tanga while others are in Kieleweke, we will end up watching as others share the meat from the goat we have been feeding,” Kiunjuri spoke.

The leaders have also asked for the disbandment of the two factions as the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to have taken off to an early start.

“We should sit down as a region and lay strategies as all is not going on well.  Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga should be dismantled for the sake of our unity,” Governor Kiraitu stated.

The plan is to consolidate the Mount Kenya vote come 2022, so as to negotiate for a share of the national cake from whoever wins the General Election.

On his part, Governor Kiraitu added, “In 2022 we will only back a candidate who will reward us by placing us at the centre of power by picking number two from the region.”

Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene, who was also in attendance, was of the opinion that Mount Kenya leaders should support one of their own to be DP Ruto’s running mate in 2022.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has been the region's kingpin, is going to retire. We should ask ourselves if we will be in government and through who,” he commented.
