Gangster Shot Dead With Own Gun in Dramatic Gunfight

Kiandutu area in Thika was the scene of a dramatic encounter between local police and one of the most wanted gangsters in the area on Saturday evening.

The suspect, Dennis Kimani Mwitheri alias Denoo, allegedly barricaded himself inside his house and started firing at the police who were closing on him.

Reports by Citizen Digital revealed that the officers eventually managed to make their way into the house where they subdued the suspect and fatally shot him using his own weapon.

Mr Kimani was linked to a recent kidnapping of two schoolgirls who were reported missing on May 2, 2019.

The two girls were students at Kenyatta Secondary School in Makongeni area, Thika.

Their disappearance had led to one of the most intensive searches in the area with Kiambu County Police Commander (CPC), Ali Nuno, confirming that it was their rigorous investigation that led them to Mr Kimani's doorstep.

“The girls’ parents reported them missing on and, following intense investigations by our officers, they were traced to the suspect’s house in Kiandutu,” the police boss disclosed.

Described as a very dangerous criminal, Denoo, was linked to numerous other gangster activities in and around the sprawling Kiandutu slum, named as one of the most dangerous areas in Thika town.

Police had recently nabbed two motorcycle thugs believed to be part of a Kiandutu-based Boda-Boda cyclist gang that had been terrorizing residents in the sub-county.

The two, James Macharia and Christopher Ndung’u were arrested after two failed attempted robberies at the Gatitu Junction near Naivas Supermarket in Thika.
