Enraged Police Officer Shoots Boss Dead

A police camp in Maralal, Samburu County was on Saturday night left in shock after a police officer turned his official gun against his boss and shot him dead.

Samburu County Police Commander Karanja Muiruri revealed that the officer stormed into the camp and opened fire killing his boss instantly.

Muiruri stated that the suspect was overpowered and disarmed by his colleagues.

He also added that the suspect was then arrested and detained.

According to Muiruri the motive of the attack was yet to be established.

Nation reported that a police officer based at the station, who sought anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press, claimed that the suspect was enraged after he was transferred from a construction site that he had been manning.

The body of the victim was taken to the Samburu county referral hospital Mortuary.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court after all the investigations are completed.

The area MCA Asha Mohammed led the residents in condemning the killing asking the police service to come up with conflict resolution mechanisms.

We heard gunfire and came to find out what had happened, we found a junior officer had killed his boss, we condemn such incident if seniors have a problem with their juniors the matter ought to be looked into,” Mohammed added.

According to The Standard, Pastor Loise Teresia, a community leader in the area called upon residents to pray for the country now that such cases are on the increase.
