William Ruto Responds to Raila Odinga’s Looming Changes

Deputy President William Ruto, on Saturday, responded to ODM leader Raila Odinga’s assertions that the country would undergo major changes ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Speaking in Lokichar Turkana South, the DP stated that Kenyans were not ready for constitutional reforms that seek to favour politicians to get powers and positions in the government.

"We cannot keep on talking of politics at all to change and improves lives of politicians and their positions in the government. Kenya is not only meant for politicians, but it's also for all 45 million people. We can't deal only with necessities of politicians," he declared.

Ruto reiterated that Kenyans were only expecting developmental changes in their lives.

“The changes the people of Kenya are expecting are changes in their lives in education, roads, the connection of electricity, water and not in the fortunes of politicians.

“Those telling us that there are changes coming should know that Kenyans want changes that can transform their lives and not the ones that can benefit few individuals,” he added.

The DP was accompanied by  Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok and Turkana South MP James Lomenen.

On Friday, Raila promised Kenyans that they will have something to rejoice about by the end of the handshake process with the president Uhuru Kenyatta.

“You cannot resist change. If you try it will overwhelm you. An idea whose time has come cannot be stopped,” the ODM party leader affirmed.

Raila was speaking in Nyatike, Migori County during the homecoming party for Nyatike MP Tom Odege, where he told Kenyans to shun politicians who use abusive language against their opponents.
