Raila's Scheme to Betray Uhuru - Mutahi Ngunyi

Renowned political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi believes that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga plans to betray President Uhuru Kenyatta

In his weekly analysis that is posted on YouTube, Mutahi stated that Odinga had managed to isolate Uhuru from his supporters.

He explained that the Rift Valley region where Deputy President William Ruto hails from has fallen out of favour with the president adding that Uhuru's own backyard, Mt Kenya region had also expressed its dissatisfaction with the president.

"If Uhuru is attacked today, they (his supporters) will only defend him reluctantly" Ngunyi commented.

Mutahi explained that the only person who appears to be standing with Uhuru was Odinga and if he were to distance himself from the president, Uhuru would find himself alone with no support.

Mutahi likened Raila to a venus fly trap plant which lures insects with its bright colours and sweet nectar before locking up with its prey inside.

He referred to the handshake and the peace that it brought as the nectar that Odinga used to entice the president.

The political analyst stated that it was only a matter of time before Odinga clamped in on Uhuru.

Speaking about the president's silence since his return from China almost two weeks ago, Mutahi urged Uhuru to remain low key.

"He should remember that silence annoys even the devil. If the country is acting funny it is because Uhuru's silence is so loud that we are completely flabbergasted.

And Uhuru must not break this silence in my view. Let the national anger boil over and run, then the wounds will dry up and heal in time," Ngunyi advised.
