Netizens Thrilled After Man Rams Into State House Fence

Kenyans online were beside themselves after a photo showing a vehicle that had been involved in an accident and rammed into State House Nairobi circulated on social media.

The four-door saloon car whose driver was suspected of being drunk at the time, slammed into a section of the perimeter wall at the president's residence, leading to a flurry of comments.

Being one of the most secure streets in the capital, some pointed out that the driver was lucky to still be alive despite the heavy police presence on the street, where making a U-turn could land you in trouble, let alone crashing right into the fence.

"This is absolute madness. Hahaha, you remember the day I made that u-turn," Mwirigi Kingora tweeted while alluding to a past incident in which he found himself in trouble on the famous road.

Others believed that the recent hashtag relating to locating president Uhuru Kenyatta, who has been keeping it low-key since his state trip to China, was taken a bit too far by the driver.

"He was obviously looking for his president after taking the #FindPresidentUhuru quite literally," Roysam Bugreat tweeted.

Motorists plying State House road are always under the watchful eye of security personnel hidden from view, only stepping out of the shadows when there's an incident such as an accident, a stalled car or any other suspicious activity.

Some found the driver's actions, albeit in a drunken stupor to be heroic, citing frustration at the country's current state.

"Not all heroes wear capes, just another frustrated Kenya," one user divulged.

While others joked that the state would soon announce a multi-million shilling budget to repair the slightly indented fence.
